TOWARDS A CREDIBLE ELECTION

BY: MISS IREMIA FAVOUR
 Published March 28th, 2011

It is only a credible election that can bring about a change in fulfilling electioneering promises. Many regimes have come and gone without fulfilling their promises to the people of our great nation. Today, deterioration of good health services, infrastructural decay, crime of all sorts, poor educational system in Nigeria, lack of basic amenities ,youth unemployment and so on are the dividends of past regimes . This had in many ways influenced the thinking; believe system, attitude and altitude of an average Nigerian child.

The so called “leaders” of past regimes only sit and watch our nation suffer; they go about in big cars wasting the money gotten from our natural resources and taxes paid by our parents. Should we continue to watch our parents elect such leaders who have no interest of an average Nigerian child at heart as presidents, legislators (boxers) and governors? No. Children of today are the future leaders of tomorrow .Therefore we cannot sit back and watch our parents electing the wrong people to lead us. As future leaders, I implored all Nigerian children to appeal to their parents to elect credible leaders not based on ethnic, religious affinity. Our parents should vote leaders such as Mr. Fashiola Babatunde of Lagos who made promises and working to fulfill them .Instead our youths going into robbery and murder in other to make ends meet, they should come together and channel their energies towards achieving a credible elections that would bring about good leaders that create opportunities for success in life.

Just the same way we convince our parents to buy toys, books, ice cream, chocolate and clothes for us we can also convince them to give us good leaders that guarantee our future. Yes we can make Nigeria a great nation if honest, fearless, able and credible leaders are elected.
