The disintegration of a state is a terrible
thing. The state will not be the same again. All the efforts
made to create a normal existence for the people go under.
People are killed in the confusion that ensues, for no just
cause. Houses are destroyed for no just cause. The result is
social dislocation.
Nobody in his right mind would wish for the disintegration
of Nigeria or any country for that matter. Unfortunately,
leaders, by acts of omission or commission, push the people
to revolt and they turn round to blame others except
themselves.
There are laws, rules and societal ethos, which should guide
leaders and citizens.
Laws must be obeyed by every citizen and failure to obey the
law yields to punishment according to law.
Unfortunately, some leaders violate the laws of the land
with impunity.
Elections that are free and fair constitute the legitimate
corner-stone for authority to govern a state. Honesty in
government is crucial for the people to have confidence in
their officials.
Even before Wiki-leak exposures of irregularities in our
societal system, the citizens knew that there had been
violations of laws and that there had been lack of decorum
in the behaviour of our Presidents, Ministers, Governors and
other ranks.
We decided to keep quiet because should we engage in
political protestations, our country could disintegrate. The
political class has mistaken this Nigerian people's calmness
for timidity.
Recently, a Nigerian patriot, at great risk to his person,
addressed a press conference in which he revealed that the
electoral process, was fraught with anomalies and
illegalities. Citizen Eze Onyekere disclosed that in the
various political campaigns, some contestants evidentially
used a lot more campaign funds than the electoral law
permitted. That non-transparent funding was the order of the
day. How business people paid for electoral campaign
conveniences that were not available to other presidential
candidates, The irregularities in ballot paper manipulations
and other indubitable wrongs that should render such
elections inoperative, in other climes.
There have been disturbing reports in the popular press and
other international sources how our "dealers" have carried
on wrongfully cheating the nations. We have also kept quiet
about these irregularities, so that our nation will not
disintegrate.
Now, if we, THE PEOPLE have exercised restraint thus far, so
that our nation does not fall apart, will the leaders and
their associates mend their ways, atone for their profligacy
and govern Nigeria well? Otherwise, it is foolish talk to
wish that Nigeria will hold, while our dealers continue in
their nefarious ways. Can any-one blame the political
mal-contents in Nigeria, when they read on a daily basis
how, political miscreants, who were penniless a few years
ago, were able to muster billions of Naira to contest and
win elections, buy jeeps, buy houses costing five hundred
million Naira in Abuja. Of course, a house built on shifting
soil of greed will collapse . Everyday is for the thief, but
one day is for the owner of the house(Nigeria)
I was shocked to learn how our political leaders, had been
serving as errand boys and girls of foreign powers. To give
secret government information about your country to foreign
powers is treasonable felony.
See the caliber of people, who misrule Nigeria!!!. It is a
shame for Nigerian citizens at the helm of affairs to be
under the influence and at the beck and call of foreign
missions officials. It is very sad.
