Nigerian Stock
Exchange Market was established in 1960 and was initially
named - Lagos Stock Exchange. It began operation with only 19
companies listed on its' rolls for trading, but it currently has
about 283 listed companies with a total market
capitalization of about $125 billion, as at the end of 2007. The type of securities traded include
Industrial Loan Stocks, Government bonds and Equity or Ordinary Shares.
The implementation of the Automated Trading System, has
significantly enhanced the trading process and made it
easier for ordinary people who struggle with trading
technicalities. |

The Nigerian stock exchange head office is
located in Lagos, but also has branches all across the
country, and they include locations in Abuja ( the federal
capital territory), Kano, Kaduna, Onitsha, Ibadan, Port
Harcourt and Yola.

The Central Securities Clearing System Limited
was incorporated as a subsidiary of Nigerian Stock exchange
in 1992 and some of its' responsibilities include: clearing, settlement and delivery of transactions electronically on the
Nigerian Stock Exchange. It also issues central security

The Nigerian Stock Exchange publishes a Daily Official List which provides information on transactions on The Exchange
that occurred on that particular day. This report is available to subscribers at
the end of every Trading Day.
